A safety test went wrong, causing an explosion in one of the nuclear reactors. This resulted in a massive release of radioactive material into the atmosphere, causing an unprecedented nuclear disaster. The surrounding area had to be evacuated and an exclusion zone was developed due to the high radiation. The accident had global repercussions in terms of nuclear safety and awareness of the risks associated with nuclear energy. Nuclear power plants cannot explode like an atomic bomb. Nuclear power plants are designed with great precision, ensuring that the release of energy occurs in a controlled manner and is used only to produce electricity, rather than generating a destructive explosion as is the case with nuclear bombs.
